SUPPORTING THE SMOKING BAN

Re "Bar smoking ban passes court test," March 14: While the article noted
that "dozens of north state bar owners filled the courtroom," it failed to
make any mention of the dozens of supporters of the new law that also
attended. Supporters attended to show that employees of bars should be
afforded the same right as all other occupations -- the right to work in an
environment free of tobacco smoke. But perhaps it was difficult to
recognize the supporters. We weren't wearing silk jackets or tee shirts
with a bar name on it. We weren't coughing throughout the court
proceedings. We didn't reek of tobacco smoke. And we also weren't using the
10 minute court recesses to go outside and smoke.
