WHEN IT COMES TO DRUG TESTING: "JUST SAY NO"
Welcome to America, land of the free, home of the brave; but don't forget
to leave a urine, blood or hair sample as you enter.
The question that I must ask is this: how did a country that's created on
personal freedoms ever get to this point?
It seems that our govenment, being fueled by the insanity of the drug war,
has decided that it is within their power to demand body fluids from its
citizens whether whty have committed a crime or not.
I have been searching for information to clear up these questions, and
although it is pretty vague, it appears that the U.S. Supreme Court has
ruled that the random drug testing of employees is not a violation of 4th
Amendment rights.
Yet in another ruling in the case of Chandler vs. Miller, which involved a
political candidate form Georgia, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that it is
not constitutional to test politicians or political candidates. This mean
that the only people who are exempt from drug testing are the people that
write and enforce these ridiculous laws.
Studies are being done by physicians and other proefessionals (such as
Kent Holtorf M.D., author of "Ur-ine Trouble") proving that "drug test are
too often inaccurate, costing jobs, reputations and devastating peoples
lives." In my opionion, a person's work status should only depend on their
performance on the job.
The drug war is responsible for the loss of so many personal civil freedoms
in this country and new laws are being written every day that will dig
deeper into our freedoms, and affect all of our lives.
It is time that Americans stand up for their rights.
Make sure you know what your rights are, and when it comes to drug test,
"just say no."
