BROWN WILLIAMSON TOBACCO OFFICIALS MAY FACE PROSECUTION
Justice department prosecutors have notified Brown & Williamson Tobacco
Corp. and several of its officials that they are subjects of the
government's investigation into fraud by cigarette makers and could be
prosecuted, law-enforcement officials said.
It is not clear whether the company or any of its officials will be
indicted. But the development marks the latest step in the government's
accelerating inquiry into the tobacco industry.
