JUSTICE OR INJUSTICE?
If we're going to have "no tolerance" laws,I think it would be very fitting
if we didn't tolerate any crimes at all. I was astounded when I heard that
Tina Schafnitz's sentence [for selling cocaine] was going to be reduced
because she had racked up so many community service hours ["Socialite gets
10-month term," Metro, April 22]. I guess this
means that when a serial killer decides to kill an old lady, he can
compensate for this act by helping some poor kittens at a local animal
shelter.
