COUPLE CHARGED IN DRUG TRANSPORT

A couple were charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with
attempting to transport 170 pounds of marijuana.

The marijuana was discovered after a traffic stop on Interstate 35 and
Britton Road on Tuesday by an Oklahoma City police officer assigned to the
Central Oklahoma Metro Interdiction Team, District Attorney Bob Macy said.

The defendants' vehicle was stopped for an improper lane change, and a drug
dog made a positive hit, Macy said. Using a fiber-optic scope, police then
discovered a welded box inside the fuel tank, he said.

Firefighters were called to open the fuel tank, and two welded boxes were
found inside, he said. The boxes contained 170 pounds of marijuana, he
said.

Charged with trafficking in illegal drugs were Jose Luis Tellez-Recillas,
28, a resident of Mexico, and Olga Lilia Campos. Both were in the Oklahoma
County jail.

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service has placed a hold on
Tellez- Recillas because his border permit required him to stay within 25
miles of the Mexican border, said Richard Wintory, assistant district
attorney.
