EX-S.F. HOUSING BOSS ARRESTED

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The former chief of a federally funded housing
corporation in San Francisco was among those arrested during a roundup of
alleged members of an Oakland-based cocaine ring, authorities said.

Joletha Head, 57, was taken into custody this week at her San Francisco home
for investigation of four cocaine charges, authorities said Friday.

Head once was in charge of a housing agency in San Francisco's
Bayview-Hunter's Point district.

She left that job after pleading guilty in 1982 to forging an agency
director's name on a loan agreement, and later served a two-year state
prison sentence for violating probation on a 1979 welfare fraud conviction.

Also arrested in this week's drug bust was Head's former boyfriend, Lee
Jenkins, 49.

On Wednesday, a search of the home Head and Jenkins shared yielded $1,900 in
cash, some powdered cocaine and half-pound of rock cocaine, agents said.

``A half-pound is a significant amount of cocaine,'' said Bill Ruzzamenti,
assistant special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration's
San Francisco office. ``Obviously, you're not going to use that half-pound
of cocaine on your own; we would think that was for distribution.''

Head and Jenkins were each arrested for investigation of possession of
cocaine for sale, possession of rock cocaine for sale, maintaining a place
to sell controlled substances and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities claimed Head was a ``secondary'' figure in the alleged cocaine ring.

Jenkins was arraigned Friday on the cocaine charges and an additional charge
of being a felon in possession of a .380-caliber pistol. Bail was set at
$50,000.
