WALL STREET EXECUTIVE GIVES $1 MILLION FOR FREE VIAGRA
NEW YORK (AP) -- It's a gift that could bring joy to a lot of couples.
Wall Street executive Alan Greenberg is donating $1 million to buy Viagra
for impotent men who can't afford it, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
"I guess you could say I'm kind of into basics," said Greenberg, who
declined to say whether he had taken Viagra himself. "And I think it's
something that will give a lot of pleasure to a lot of people."
Greenberg, 70, chairman of Bear, Stearns Companies, gave the money to
officials at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York Tuesday. He said
he donated the money after reading that some insurance companies and state
health programs were denying patients the impotence drug because of its
cost.
Viagra sells for $8 to $10 a pill.
