AD ON POT OUT OF LINE
My sister-in-law called it to my attention about an ad in the T-J this past
week that she disapproved of it, and was shocked to see such an ad as was I
upon checking out the paper closer.
Holy cow, there on page seven was an ad inviting all high school seniors to
enter an essay contest offering a $500 prize and topic "How does the war on
marijuana threaten America's constitutional democracy" was the theme!
I take offense that our own local community paper would run the ad, or the
fact that this county as well as others spend money on the DARE programs in
our schools and can have something like this blow up in our faces.
"Maybe" a joint now and then is not as bad as most of us think, but one
thing is for sure---it generally leads to a "little more" or worse,
something more potent. Its use can and does alter the mind, and often makes
one lazy. Is this what we want our younger generation turning to?
Does that war on marijuana threaten our democracy give us the right to wage
war on any law we don't agree with? Good grief.
