TWISTED TALES - ONE TOKE OVER THE LINE
SASKATOON (CP) - Francois Blanchette is the first to admit he blew it
with an ill-timed joint.
The 48-year-old organic farmer and amateur painter from Edam, Sask.,
headed to the campus of the University of Saskatchewan on May 4 to set
up his easel and smoke a little marijuana.
He apparently didn't realize the gentle spring breezes were carrying
the fumes through a window into a nearby classroom, which just
happened to be filled with a dozen police officers on a training
course. Blanchette pleaded guilty Tuesday in provincial court to a
charge of marijuana possession and was fined $300.
