20 ALLEGED DEALERS IN COURT ON DRUG CHARGES
TWENTY alleged drug dealers, arrested in early morning garda swoops
yesterday following Operation Cleanstreet II, have appeared in Dublin
District Court.
One suspect was remanded in custody while the rest were remanded on bail to
appear in July and September for directions from the Director of Public
Prosecutions.
The arrests followed undercover operations by District Drug Squads which
were co-ordinated by the National Garda Drugs Unit last May and June in
which 200 heroin deals were seized.
Specific locations in Ballymun, Rialto, Inchicore, Dolphin's Barn, the city
centre and Finglas which had become known for street drug dealing were
targeted.
Thomas Kelly (36) of Dorset St Flats, Dublin 1, who is accused of having
heroin for supply at St Michael's Estate, Inchicore, on May 21, was
remanded in custody to appear before the court again on June 25.
Eamonn Flood (21) of Knocknaree Rd, Drimnagh, Peter Meleady (17) of
Kildonan Ave, Finglas West, Christopher Maher (23) of James Connolly Tower,
Ballymun, and Mark Boylan (28) of Joseph Plunkett Tower, Ballymun, are each
separately charged with having heroin for supply at Ballymun Town Centre on
May 23.
Colin Smith (21) of Crumlin Rd, and Gavin Guinan (21) of Lissadell Rd,
Drimnagh, are each charged with having heroin for supply at Goldenbridge
Walk, Rialto on June 3.
Amanda Kiely (19) of Coultry Way, Ballymun, is accused of having heroin for
supply at Ballymun Town Centre on May 30, while Liam Hill (26) of McKee
Ave, Finglas East, is accused of supplying heroin at the same shopping
centre on June 6 and 25. Brendan Bradley (25) of Glenale Rd, Edenmore, is
accused of supplying heroin at Edenmore Shopping Centre on May 26, while
Greg Flynn (23) of Avondale House, and John Hortins (24) of Champions Ave,
both Dublin 1, are each charged with supplying heroin at Gardiner St on May
24.
Sean Roche (18) of Kilworth Rd, Drimnagh, is accused of heroin supply at
Davitt Rd, Drimnagh, on June 3, Mary Dempsey (27) of Rutland Grove,
Crumlin, is accused of heroin supply at St Michael's Estate, Inchicore, on
June 11 and Jennifer O'Shea (24) of Rutland Grove, Crumlin, is accused of
heroin supply at Dolphin's Barn on June 10.
Four defendants accused of supplying cannabis in the Berryfield area of
Finglas South were also arrested as part of the operation. Stuart Seery
(21) of Berryfield Rd is accused of supply on June 5, Laura Byrne (21) of
Berryfield Rd is accused of supply on June 5, James Donohoe (18) of
Barnamore Grove is accused of supply on June 8 and Gary Doyle (25) of
Kippure Park Gardens is accused of supply on June 11.
David Hinch (32) of Elmfield Rd, Whitehall, is accused of supplying
cannabis at Whitehall Snooker Club on June 1.
The 19 defendants were remanded on their own bail of A3100 to appear in
court on dates varying between July 9, September 3 and 4 for directions.
