DOCTOR'S HEROIN MESSAGE HITS HOME
Re: "The Straight Dope - Doctor informs kids of heroin's dangers with
graphic details," June 22.
Bravo, Dr. Alexander!
I am a recovering drug addict. I just celebrated 11 years clean. I wish
someone had made the REALITY of drugs clear to me, before I started doing
them. Very few people "experiment" with the hard drugs, like heroin.
Usually by the time people are ready to "try" heroin, they are already
hooked on something and their tolerance is so high they are looking for
something else to get them high! How many years of my life would be
different, had I met someone like Dr. Larry Alexander when I was a child?
All they told me was "drugs are bad," "just say no." Bad? That's nothing.
Tell Dr. Alexander if he wants any help, I'll be glad to do anything I can!
