The Doonesbury comic strip this week features Proposition 215. A transcript
of the conversation between Zonker Harris, sitting on his balcony, and the
always-helmeted B.D., with asides from what is apparently a potted pot
plant on a table next to Zonker, follows:

MONDAY

B.D.: Well, your stupid new law should be kicking in around now!
Zonker: What stupid new law?
B.D.: Prop 215! California's "medical" marijuana scam!
B.D.: By now every would-be "healer" from Tijuana to Monterey has got a
starter pot on his deck! Potted Plant: Uh-oh
Zonker: Be cool.
B.D.: You can almost smell it in the air

TUESDAY:

Zonker: B.D., the point is, under the new medical pot law, you have to get
permission from a health care pro!
B.D.: Oh, right... In California, EVERYONE'S a health care professional!
You got AROMA THERAPISTS who think of themselves as primary caregivers!
B.D.: The law's a sham! You and I both know every stoner in the state is
going to start growing cannabis on his front porch!
Potted Plant: That's absurd!
Zonker: Shh! B.D.: What?

WEDNESDAY:

Zonker: Look, B.D., you ask any kid in the real world whether it's easier
to get alcohol or pot, and he'll tell you pot! And every study supports that!
Zonker: So if civil regulation works better, then what exactly is the POINT
of spending billions on prohibition?

Potted Plant: Does he usually think this hard?
Zonker: No, this is new.
B.D.: JOBS!
