SNUFF HARMLESS, GOVT SHOULD COMBAT MARIJUANA
Dear Editor,
I was amused to read an article in your newspaper about the recent law
banning the production and sale of snuff (July 26, "A Punch in the
Kashubian Nose"). It would seem harsh and unnecessary to criminalize the
harmless traditional activity of a few elderly Kashubian men. I'm sure the
perils of snuff are far lower than those of cheap fruit-flavored wines
which are far more prevalent and popular among a certain class of adult
male. Is the government doing anything about that?
In addition, I was surprised to find, on a walk through some Warsaw
suburbs, what looked and smelt suspiciously like marijuana growing freely
in the hedgerows. I didn't take my research any further, but I would be
interested to know if indeed it was the "real thing" and what, if anything,
the government is doing about it.
