SNOOKER DRUG RAP GIVES KEN THE TITLE
KEN DOHERTY has been awarded the Benson and Hedges Irish Masters title
after Ronnie O'Sullivan was stripped of the title for testing positive for
cannabis during the event.
The English star, who beat Doherty 9-3 in the final at Goffs, Co Kildare in
March, also forfeites his IEP61,000 prize money.
The 22-year-old Essex professional escaped a ban despite the fact that the
offence took place while he was serving a two-year suspended sentence.
Despite losing his trophy, O'Sullivan remains UK and Scottish Open
champion. He is the fourth player to be disciplined for drug taking this year.
