ALAMEDA COUNTY 30 SUSPECTS ARRESTED DURING COCAINE STING

Oakland -- Police swept through west and north Oakland yesterday, arresting
suspected street-level cocaine dealers who were caught selling drugs to
undercover officers.

By late yesterday afternoon, about 30 people had been taken into custody as
part of a ``zero tolerance'' operation, said Officer Arturo Bautista.

Community policing officers hope to jail a total of 101 suspects who were
indicted by an Alameda County grand jury on charges of possession of cocaine
for sale. The 88 adults and 13 juveniles were captured on videotape or
surveillance equipment selling narcotics to undercover police officers
between May 16 and May 30.
