METH LAB CLEANUP CONTINUES

The residents of a central Mississauga neighbourhood remained
evacuated yesterday as the cleanup of a burned out drug lab on
Mariner Court continued.

Crews clad in chemical suits were removing toxic and volatile
chemicals from the charred townhouse again yesterday.

Mitchell Gibbs, who manages the chemical disposal that is dismantling
the meth lab, called it a "super lab."

"These guys weren't doing this as a hobby," Gibbs told The Toronto Sun.

The home, located in an otherwise quiet residential neighbourhood,
exploded in flames Sunday night.

Two men were reportedly on fire as they ran from the house and drove
themselves to Credit Valley Hospital.

Jayson White, 33, a married father from Texas who was renting the
home, died Tuesday in a Rochester hospital.

Peel Regional Police Det. Dan Valleau said 45-year-old Reno Fazio of
Toronto is not expected to live.

"Their skin was melting off them as they drove to the hospital," said Valleau.

The Mariner Court meth lab is the first found in Peel since a
bathroom-sized lab was found in 1999 and police are hoping its not
part of a new trend to set up in residential areas.

"This is the first one I've ever seen," Valleau told The Sun. "We
predominantly investigate (marijuana) grow labs."
