DRUGS SEIZED BY CUSTOMS OFFICIALS
CANNABIS resin with a street value of about IEP277,000 has been seized
by Customs at Plymouth Ferryport in Devon, the Agency said yesterday.
About 80 kilograms of the drug was found by Customs sniffer dog Bruno
after a van was stopped during a routine check on Friday on arrival
from Santander, northern Spain, aboard the Brittany Ferries vessel Val
de Loire.
When Customs officers searched the vehicle they found the drugs hidden
under a false floor, said a Customs spokesman.
The driver, Barry Colgrave, 48, of Butler Way, Kempston, Bedford, was
charged with attempting to smuggle the cannabis into UK.
He is to appear before magistrates in Plymouth today, said a Customs
spokesman yesterday.
