CANADIAN HEMP COMPANY NARROWS PROCESSING SITES

(Portage la Prairie, Canada)-- A Canadian company is narrowing its
prospects for sites of plants to process the country's new hemp crop.

Consolidated Growers and Processors hopes to have three plants working. The
plants will turn the fiber into material for particle board, insulation,
animal bedding and other uses.

So far, though, there isn't enough hemp being grown to make the crop
worthwhile to process.

The official says the crop looks good so far. But it's experimental, and a
lot of things have yet to be figured out. Among them is how to harvest it.
Hemp can gum up a typical harvester. The company is going to try out a
specially built one.

Hemp is not legal for growing in the United States. It's a cousin of
marijuana. And although hemp lacks marijuana's chemical kick, police say
it's hard to tell the plants apart in a field.
