CANUCKS WANT JUSTICE: PM
HOPEWELL CAPE, N.B. -- A vigilante riot and torching of a suspected
crack house on Grand Manan Island shows Canadians want their
government to get tougher on crime, says Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
"This is probably an extreme example of the desire of the population
to see change and see crime fought in this country," Harper said yesterday.
Harper's comments came four days after a riot on Grand Manan, located
in the Bay of Fundy.
Early Saturday, two groups brandishing guns and knives brawled for
four hours near a home residents believed was a drug den.
The RCMP says about 40 people attacked a group of 10 people they
suspected of being drug dealers and burned down a home.
