Most people are willing to cooperate with both the absolute and arbitrarv
laws of government into which they were born, providing (A) the majority of
people follow them, and (B) those agreements are fair: that they somehow
make sense ... When the laws are irrational, however, people are less likely
to sacrifice in order to obey them."

So writes Peter McWilliams in his great book "Ain't Nobody's Business if You
Do."

McWilliams, who suffers from AIDS and cancer, is a strong advocate of
marijuana to relieve pain and nausea. Recently arrested in Los Angeles on a
charge of intent to distribute marijuana, he is electric with indignation
that those who find legitimate relief in marijuana are subject to such
prosecution.
