THE COST OF TOLERANCE

Editor -- Years ago liberals advocated illegal drug use. And the hospitals
were full.

They promoted uncontrolled sex. Just do it, they said. And the hospitals
were full.

Then it was homosexuality. And now the morgues are full.

Of course, all these things are the fault of the Religious Right. Sure, we
wouldn't want to put the blame where it really belongs. After all, liberals
are just so tolerant and open-minded.

And they're gonna solve all our problems. Yes, those who gave us V.D.,
crack babies and AIDS are on a self-righteous mission to rid America of . .
. 6-year-old boys who kiss girls! Kissing other boys, of course, would be
fine.

And we can't let them pray or study the Bible in school. That would
jeopardize the Constitution, and we know how liberals just adore the
Constitution. Columnist Cynthia Tucker tells us that bigotry can be cured.
Liberals should be commended for their gallant efforts, but I'm afraid what
they call bigotry hasn't taken the toll in death and
misery that their ``tolerance'' has.
