D.A.R.E. Thanks Supporters
To the editor:
On behalf of Chief Neil Ouellette and the entire Danvers Police Department,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the
2006 Danvers Police D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament. With the help of the business
community, volunteers and all golfers, we were able to raise over $7,000.
Because of fund-raisers like this and the continuous support of our
community, the town of Danvers will continue to educate children through
D.A.R.E.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education, D.A.R.E., is a program consisting of a
series of classroom lessons that include the most up-to-date evidence and
research-based strategies for drug abuse prevention. The program addresses
common drug-related beliefs among adolescents; increases risk awareness of
substance abuse; and focuses on improving social skills like problem
solving, communication, decision-making and resistance/assertiveness training.
Money raised goes to activities such as after-school basketball,
volleyball, floor hockey and bowling, as well as summer day camp, field
trips and fitness programs. I would like to thank the following businesses
for their support.
Sponsors: Danversbank, Danvers Motor Company, Danvers Exxon, Danvers
