STRIKING OUT IN CRIME
Editor,
Yes, i agree that simple drug possession should be decriminalized. However,if
you run me over with a car because you are incapacitated by either drugs or
alcohol,you should be punished. If you are violent or abusive while under the
influence,you should be punished.
How many strikes should we as a society allow strictly non-violent criminals?
To the mothers and loved ones of some of these criminals,I suspect 1,000
strikes would not be enough.To the victims of repeat offenders, more than
three
strikes is a vulgar insult.
