RE: "B.C. narcotic solution will work" - Comment, Aug. 16. I cannot believe
that an obviously intelligent woman such as Diane Francis would condone
giving addicts drugs - especially illegal drugs. All my life I have tried to
avoid drugs and people who do them, but alas, people like her think that the
vacant-eyed, nervous and swaying person next to me on the bus should be
legally handed drugs at the taxpayers' expense. Maybe you would like to work
next to some of these individuals, but I would not.
If they are not in jail or on welfare, then where are they? Are we not
supposed to try to cure the sick, not feed the problem? It's funny, but
working in the health care field as I do, I was somehow given that
impression. Please explain how she can see people with daily drug habits
being cured if they are happy doing what they want with their drugs being
supplied? The Swiss are the Swiss and we are Canadians with our own
problems.

taxpayers money.)
