U.S. JURY CONVICTS 5 GANG CHIEFTAINS
CHICAGO -- A federal jury Friday convicted five more Gangster Disciple
leaders of taking part in the gang's multimillion-dollar drug conspiracy.
Prosecutors said three of the defendants--Jeffrey Hatcher, Jimmie Gholson
and Bryan Crenshaw--each had headed up the gang in Chicago after the
indictment of Disciples leader Larry Hoover and dozens of other gang
members in 1995.
The jury deliberated over three days after five weeks of testimony.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 14.
The trial marked the fourth lengthy one of Gangster Disciples leaders in
2 1/2 years; more than 40 have been convicted.
