MAN CHARGED WITH GROWING POT ON BOAT
South San Francisco The owner of a World War II lifeboat has been
arrested for allegedly using the boat as a nursery for marijuana plants.
Agents from the San Mateo County Vehicle Theft Task Force spotted the
30-foot vessel moored at Oyster Point Marina Tuesday afternoon during
a routine inspection of the county's marinas for stolen boats and
marine accessories.
Lt. Donald O'Keefe said Wednesday that the agents had noticed its
outboard motor was missing identification plates and received
permission from the lifeboat's owner, Ronald Jacobsen, to inspect the
vessel.
During the inspection, O'Keefe said, agents found 20 grown plants, 10
smaller ones and a scale with marijuana residue. Elsewhere on the
boat, they found an outboard motor that had been reported stolen to
the Foster City Police Department.
Jacobsen, 33, of South San Francisco, was arrested and booked into the
San Mateo County jail on charges of marijuana cultivation and
possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $10,000.
