FUND-RAISING IS REAL, LOMPOC POLICE ASSURE

LOMPOC Police are assuring residents that calls from the California Narcotic
Officers' Association are legitimate.

Last Friday, several residents called the Lompoc Police Department asking
about the legitimacy of a fund-raising campaign by the Santa Clarita-based
association. Police confirmed that the group is conducting a telephone
fund-raising campaign.

Over the years, groups posing as bogus associations have embezzled citizens
out of significant amounts of money.
