LOS ANGELES COP CHARGED IN COCAINE THEFT
A police officer working in narcotics enforcement was arrested yesterday
and charged with stealing six pounds of cocaine valued at $800,000 from a
police headquarters evidence room by posing as another officer. Officer
Rafael Antonio Perez, 31, was arrested without incident in Ladera Heights,
county prosecutors said. Investigators searched Perez's home on Aug. 6, but
the cocaine was never found.
