FRATERNITY AGREES TO FINE IN DRINKING DEATH

A college fraternity chapter agreed Monday to pay $22,600 in a plea bargain
stemming from the drinking death of a 20-year-old pledge.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon pleaded no contest to 86 counts of purchasing alcohol
for underage drinkers.

The fraternity agreed to give $8,600 to a campus alcohol-awareness program.
The fraternity also will pay $14,000 to cover half the cost of the
investigation into the death of Louisiana State University student Benjamin
Wynne.
