CONFERENCE ISSUES: DRUGS, CRIME

Deputy U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder will speak about crime and drugs
at the second annual Safer Communities-Brighter Futures Conference at the
Airport Holiday Inn Sept. 16-17.

The conference, designed for community leaders, was created by state
officials last year to discuss issues involving crime and drugs in the
state. The theme for this year's conference is, "Building Bridges to Curb
Youth Substance Abuse, Crime, and Violence in Iowa Communities.

Other featured speakers include James E. Copple, executive deputy director
for the National Crime Prevention Council; Vaughn Ownbey of "the Partnership
for a Drug Free America.

The cost of the conference is $65 per person. For more information, contact
