Congratulations to the Fraser Institute's Patrick Basham and Tracey
Nicholls for the Your View article on the so-called drug war. The war
is unwinnable because it ignores two basic and inescapable principles,
namely: a) As long as there is a demand there will be a supply, and;
b) Prohibition does not work. The only way to deal with the drug
problem is to decriminalize it and regulate it like alcohol. That is,
you regulate the production, distribution and consumption. Heaven
knows, the government might even be able to get some tax out of it.
