4 CHARGED IN DEATH OF POLICE OFFICER

CHICAGO -- Three men and a juvenile have been indicted on first-degree
murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and criminal drug conspiracy
charges that stem from the fatal shooting of Chicago Police Officer
Michael Ceriale, prosecutors said Friday.

Jonathan Tolliver, 16, of 4022 S. State St.; Robert Brandt, 17, of
4101 S. Federal St.; George Alexander, 18, of 1209 W. 70th St.; and
Willie Hunter, 23, of 4101 S. Federal St., appeared before Cook County
Circuit Judge Nicholas Ford when their indictments were announced.

Prosecutors have said Ceriale was shot from a distance during a drug
surveillance operation in a vacant lot outside of a housing
development after being spotted by alleged drug dealers.

The four next will appear in court on Oct. 5.
