DRUGS: GROW-OP FIGHT FIXES METH GOOD
Dear Editor
Langley Township's new grow-op law [Inspections devised to foil
Township grow-ops, June 30, Langley Advance] will help the crystal
meth market in a big way. Since the new law will make it nearly
impossible to grow pot, which takes months, unscrupulous people who
desire cash will simply get into the meth business.
A rental unit that can produce $100,000 worth of pot in a year can
produce far more meth in the same amount of time. In fact, a large and
profitable batch of meth can be cooked up over a weekend. Maybe a new
bylaw is in the offing, in which landlords must check their units four
times a day?
Personally, I'd rather hear that the guy next door is growing pot.
Sure, there is an added risk of fire and property damage in a grow-op,
but a meth lab can turn a three-bedroom house into confetti, not to
mention that the streets will be flooded with even more crystal meth.
But at least that "demon marijuana" will be gone!
