SALINAS' COUNTERATTACK
Stung by reports linking his brother to drug trafficking, former Mexican
President Carlos Salinas de Gortari is demanding that five former attorneys
general who served during his administration testify on his behalf. In a
request presented by his lawyer, Salinas says the former attorneys general
could attest that he "energetically fought the production, trafficking and
consumption of drugs" during his 1988-94 presidency.
