LIMITS ON ADS, DRINKING FAVORED FOR COLLEGES
Americans overwhelmingly support advertising bans, restrictions on
drinking in the street and on college campuses and other tough
measures to control teen drinking, a survey to be released today finds.
The poll by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation finds 89 percent of
those surveyed would support restrictions on drinking in parks, public
places and college campuses; 67 percent support a ban on television
advertising of liquor; and 77 percent favor restricting drinking in
sports stadiums.
The survey of 7,000 people, which has a margin of error of two
percentage points, found that 82 percent would support a 5 percent
increase in alcohol taxes to pay for programs to stop minors from drinking.
