CHICAGO SAID TURNING INTO COCAINE DISTRIBUTION HUB
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Chicago police said Sunday the city was turning into a
distribution center for cocaine originating from Mexico, with about 2,000
pounds of the drug worth $100 million seized in just three weeks. "We are
becoming more of a distribution center," Chicago Police Department
spokesman Patrick Camden said. "We figured all the cocaine coming into
Chicago before was used here, now it's being distributed to other points
through Chicago as the hub ... the central distribution point" he said,
adding the drugs were coming from Mexico. Chicago police scored a major
drug bust Saturday, seizing 940 pounds of cocaine and suspect Frank Smith,
42, who has been charged in court.
