SCIENCE FEARS A NEW ECSTASY
SCIENTISTS are worried a new designer drug similar to ecstasy could be being
made in Adelaide.
Forensic Science Centre scientist Paul Pigou said yesterday three capsules
seized as part of a drug haul in Adelaide last year were confirmed as
amino-propyl, a drug first made in US laboratories in 1993 as part of a
study into the effects of ecstasy.
Dr Pigou said it was the only seizure of the drug in Adelaide so far but
there were signs the city could be a site for the creation of designer
drugs.
"It is the only seizure we have had of that drug (amino-propyl)," Dr Pigou
told Channel Nine.
