DRUG KITS NO SURPRISE
NO one should be surprised that heroin "starter kits" - designed to
introduce the drug to new and younger users - are on sale for as
little as $5.
Earlier this year, the Premier and Chief Police Commissioner led the
television news with an announcement - that first-time drug users
would not be charged but given counselling.
Did these leaders really think drug pushers would not distort this
message to the gullible young and entice them to try heroin "just
once" because they would not be charged?
The announcement may have been well-intentioned but it was definitely
misguided. The lack of judgment shown in not keeping this new ruling
covert just leaves one at a loss.
