MORE NEEDLES WILL NOT BE ON STREETS
Daniel Peters, in his Nov. 16 letter, states that he is against a needle
exchange program because "there will be more needles out there on the streets."
Apparently, he has not read the details of the proposed program.
A drug user must bring in used needles to receive new, sanitary ones. Do
the math: Someone brings in 10 dirty needles, he or she gets 10 clean
needles. The net effect is no additional needles, just a valuable tool to
reduce the spread of AIDS.
