TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR WOMEN GETS GRANT

The Peninsula Community Foundation has awarded $27,985 to the Service
League of San Mateo County for Hope House in Redwood City, its
six-month residential treatment program to help women battling alcohol
and drug addiction. The grant funds the Successful Recovery Support
program, offering ongoing support and skill-building for women
graduating from Hope House.

The grant's goal is to enable the Successful Recovery Support program
to lower the percentage of women who relapse within the first year.
Forty-four percent of graduates relapse. The grant to the service
league was one of 16 this year from the foundation, totaling $568,397.

Fourteen other organizations receiving Peninsula Community Foundation
funds include Free At Last in East Palo Alto, Friends for Youth/YMCA
of the Mid-Peninsula, Menlo Park Library's Project Read and Peninsula
Interfaith Action, serving Mountain View and northern San Mateo County.
