YOUNG FG CALLS FOR LEGALISATION OF CANNABIS
Young Fine Gael yesterday landed the party in controversy with a motion
calling for the legalisation of cannabis at the 15th annual conference in
the Connemara Coast Hotel, Galway.
The call for the legalistaion of the drug will now be raised at the next
meeting with the party executive.
Proposing the motion, Michael Fitzpatrick, Dublin North East, questioned why
cannabis should be rated a class A drug in the same bracket as heroin,
cocaine and amphetamines, etc, when, he claimed, it is clearly less harmful
than some soft drugs like alcohol.
