EPILEPSY DRUG SHOWN TO HAVE PROMISE IN TREATING ADDICTION
An epilepsy drug already shown to have promise in treating cocaine
addiction may also help smokers kick the habit, scientists said Wednesday.
Scientists said experiments on animals showed that the drug - called gamma
vinyl-GABA, or GVG - curbs nicotines's effect on the brain by slowing the
production of dopamine, the chemical central to drug addiction.
