RECOGNIZE MEMBERS OF POLICE NARCOTICS TEAM

On a recent trip to Danbury, I noticed a void on the streets and in my heart.

When street drug use increased to the point it reached in the late 1980s,
the Danbury Police Department, under Chief Nelson Macedo, began the
development of the Tactical Narcotics Team and appointed Capt. Art Sullo as
project director.

This was to be a unit of hand-picked individuals who had to be highly
motivated, intelligent, brave and willing to put the unit at the forefront
of their lives.

The first and most important choice was that of now Capt. Mark Rosato as
the commanding officer. Mark fit the bill then and still does as a
department shift commander. In the past, the assigned officers kept out of
the limelight for the most part.

However, just in case someone didn't know who these heroes are, I think
they should be recognized.

Originally hand-screened and chosen as the best were John Krupinsky, Dave
Arconti, Patty Trompetta, Ron Inconstanti and Don Colla. Later added were
two others who fit the high standards, Adam Fernand and Joe Monroe.

When Mark Rosato and the team hit the streets in January 1990, they made an
immediate impact. Drug arrests skyrocketed and the dealers and buyers soon
scattered and could not operate in the manner they had been. The name TNT
became well-known to anyone who was doing anything illegal.

Now that I see they have moved on within the Danbury Police Department, I
hope your new commander, Chief Paquette, along with Mayor Gene Eriquez,
always a supporter of the team, realize the years, effort, and true
selflessness that these officers invested in the department and the city of
Danbury and have been duly recognized and officially commended.

It's important to show how much I respect these men and women, and the
citizens should know and feel the same way. They have done their duty, and
more, for us.
