INFORMATION, NOT INDOCTRINATION
(Re: Wayne's Word Dec. 3) An excellent column. You may want to take a look
at "From Chocolate to Morphine" by Dr. Andrew Weil and Winifred Rosen as a
drug education alternative. It is a totally non-judgmental description of
drugs, their effects, their real dangers, if any, and precautions to take
if you choose to use them. The idea is to educate kids enough so they don't
do something stupid and kill themselves.
We attempt to do that with alcohol, of course; "Don't drink and
drive." "From Chocolate to Morphine" extends that concept to other
recreational drugs.
It's far removed from "Just say no," but I think it has a much better
chance of actually working.
