3 ARRESTED IN DEL RIO DRUG BUST
A Del Rio used car dealer and two of his salesmen face accusations they
sold more than 250 grams of "black tar" heroin to an undercover law officer.
Federal agents working alongside Val Verde County deputies Wednesday
arrested El Chespi Auto Sales owner Jorge Vasquez-Constancio, 39, Marcos
Garcia, 35, and Carlos Reyes, 25.
The three are charged with one count of possession with intent to
distribute heroin. Federal prosecutors allege the men, operating from the
car lot, sold 254 grams of heroin to the officer Oct. 2.
If convicted, each of the three face between five and 40 years in prison
and up to $2 million in fines.
Also arrested by local and federal authorities was Del Rio resident Rudolfo
Fuentes.
He was charged in a separate complaint of conspiring last year to
distribute about 70 kilograms of cocaine.
He faces between 10 years and life in prison and a possible maximum $4
million fine.
All four men were in Val Verde County Jail on Thursday pending a detention
hearing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Patterson said the investigation is
continuing, and involves four federal agencies as well as law officers in
both Bexar and Val Verde counties.
