A REAL ABUSE OF POWER
I could not believe when I read Mr. Hopwood's letter on Dec. 20th calling
for Mr. Gilchrest resignation. Mr. Hopwood called Mr. Gilchrest's vote an
act of treachery because "our service men and women remain in harm's way".
What does Mr. Hopwood expect, democracy to put on hold? That is absurd.
Those men and women are in harm's way every single day of their service to
our country.
I am very disappointed with the President and Congress. There is no doubt
in my mind that Mr. Clinton has obstructed justice and lied to us on many
occasions (i.e. "I did not inhale"), but so has Congress in their recent
resolution that states "marijuana is a dangerous and addictive drug".
The President and Congress even went so far as to suppress the result of
a vote in Washington on the use of marijuana for medical reasons (i.e.
chemotherapy induced nausea, Multiple sclerosis, etc.).
That is an outrageous and dangerous abuse of power.
