Dear Readers,
Those of you who receive our news clippings via email or by visiting our
websites may have noticed that some news items now include a lead Forum:
followed by a URL.
The URL leads to the newspaper webpage where discussion forums exist. These
forums are one of the better places where we can discuss our issues with
others. We encourage you to visit the forums and join in the discussion.
We have also added the forum links to our media link web page at:
http://www.mapinc.org/media.htm
This was accomplished by an update of our roboeditor database which is part
of the process by which items sent by newshawks to editor@mapinc.org are
sent to the editing/posting team. See:
http://www.mapinc.org/hawk.htm
Thanks to Don Beck and Mike Gogulski for all the roboeditor database
updating. And to a suggestion from Lee T. Neidow for the idea, which was
reinforced by our December NewsHawk of the Month, Jane Marcus, who answered
a question in our December 2nd DrugSense Weekly, as follows:
DS: What is your favorite website?
Jane: No day is complete without my visit to MAP's Drug News Index and the
New York Times Forum on Drug policy (
http://forums.nytimes.com/webin/WebX?13@@.eeb88c7 - readers who have not
previously visited the site will need to register). It's especially
gratifying to see articles I sent to MAP linked to by posters on NYT forum.
Of course, we will continue to provide the contacts for Letters to the
Editor, as responding by letters is still the best way to reach the public
at a very low cost. See our tips for letter writers at:
http://www.mapinc.org/3tips.htm
Happy New Year!!!
from everyone involved in the MAP effort.
