CHINA SEIZES 14.9 KG OF HEROIN IN REMOTE XINJIANG

BEIJING, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Police in China's northwestern province of
Xinjiang have seized 14.9 kilograms (32.8 lb) of heroin and arrested two
suspects in the region's largest-ever drug bust, Xinhua news agency said on
Wednesday.

Suspects Chen Yuanfu and Li Wei were arrested on December 30 after police
found the heroin in a shipment of precious stones sent to the two from
Myanmar.

Police said the stones had been hollowed out and filled with heroin in
Burma and imported into China.

No further details were available.
