RUTLAND GETS KELOWNA'S DRUGGIES
To the editor:
I am not the type of person who will go and read the newspaper all of
the time, but something really has to grab my attention to it. And
lately the topic that is going on with a co-worker and I is how the
downtown area is cleaning up.
And then I read the paper: Kelowna After Dark (Aug 6 Capital News).
But what I am wondering is, does anyone care to know where all of the
people who are using crack or meth or any type of drug at all are
going? Because now it seems to me that I am seeing them everyday in
front of my home.
I live in Rutland on Hollywood Road by Willow Park, and I have lived
in Rutland most of the time that I have lived here and love it. I
have always felt safe, until last week.
My boyfriend and I got home and there were these two people drugged
out (one male and one female). The female says to us that she thinks
that her life is endangered and can she come into our home.
My boyfriend tells her that if her life is endangered then he will
call the cops for her and then she took off and was hiding in the bushes.
On countless times we have found people behind the dumpsters smoking
crack with their pipes--I know people that have broken these drug
addicts' pipes.
And then just yesterday in front of our home some lady gets bear mace
in the face then hit in the face with an elbow by her boyfriend.
Yea it is great that the downtown area is getting cleaned up, but
they are just moving them to the Rutland area.
