BOZ SCAGGS WARNS OF DRUG USE
Boz Scaggs, whose son died recently of a heroin overdose, says he will use
his fame to warn of the dangers of the drug.
"These dealers are selling death," the musician said. "Kids need to be
given the means to defend themselves. They've got to know that they're
under attack so they can take care of each other."
Oscar Scaggs, 21, died in a rundown San Francisco hotel on New Year's Eve.
His father; who recorded the hits "Lowdown" and "Lido Shuffle," said a
well-to-do upbringing did not save his son from drugs.
"He went to some of the better schools in some of the better
neighborhoods," Scaggs said in Wednesday's San Francisco Chronicle.
